First off I'd like to thank overclkr (Cliff) for all the photos and information. I have just completed fitting a new green tube to my G70. I fired the projector up for a few minutes and so far so good. I sourced the tube from vdc as a new Panasonic oem.


Looking through old posts I've read that Sony sourced tubes are already run in and ready to use whilst rebuilds needs a burn in period on low brightness and contrast. Do I now need to run my new tube in?

You read correct. Sony OEM tubes do not need the 100 hours burn in, and i'm 99% sure that the rebuilts do. I too just had a new oem G tube from Sony installed in my G70 and it didn't require any burn in.

Thanks but my tube was supplied as a bare tube from vdc i.e. no eht lead etc. Sony supply the tube built up with hardware. Do Panasonic supply the bare tube run in or do Sony run it in after mounting the hardware to the tube?

I believe it is Panasonic that does the running in BBD. I think you should be good to go.

Okay thanks Mark. I've just tried it on standard b/c settings and it now looks great. Can't wait until I can afford to do the blue.
