This sounds like a bad idea. The center channel is a monopole speaker. Having two of them means that you have two point sources sending two sound waves from two slightly different locations. They will arrive at your ears and interfere with each other, an effect called "combing".


I'm sure if someone could figure out how to make this work, the manufacturers would be all over it. They would love to sell us more speakers.

I am using 2 bookshelf 4 ohm speakers wired in series which produce an 8 ohm load and they sound awesome. Lou

Why not just one speaker of the same kind as your mains? A lot of people think 5 identical speakers is the optimal setup.

If you are going to use two bookshelves, I would place them tweeter to tweeter and not woofer to woofer. They should blend better that way and give you a more even dispersion pattern. Kind of like double Advents from the 70s.
