Since you can get them fairly cheap on ebay. I was wondering how the voom box performs as an OTA HD Tuner? Also some of the auctions on ebay mention that the box has to be "activated," even though Voom is off the air, for them to work, is this true?

Voom boxes work pretty good. And yes you have to get a box that was never unactivated before Voom was shut down otherwise it will not work.
