It seems whenever my satellite signal is lost heavy rain follows within the minute.


Signal is restored after about ten minutes in most cases.

You are right about that! Since the dish is pointed at an angle (not straight up) the picture goes out when the worst of the storm is in the dishes line of sight. Whenever I lose the picture, I know a big storm is only minutes away. Another great "feature" of satellite TV!
