Well, since we replaced a DVR, now in addition

to the settop box going to sleep after around

2&1half-hours, now occasionally my 12MB service also stalls out.

An only way of resuming is to push the "watch tv" button.

Since I am totally blind-and-record alot of News programming

to an audio unit, I really don't want

the box going to sleep.

In addition, the DVR inconsistanly jumps channels.

When typing in 0205 it sometimes goes to 20 while

still typing. The regular settop box doesn't do that.

I have already written AT&T about offering a box with

speech output. I understand later this year,

Comcast will have a talking TV Guide.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions from here in Sherman Oaks, California

Yes the box will go into a stand by mode.  That is the design when Microsoft originally created the Media Room Platform.  It is not supposed to go into a sleep state, until approximately six hours of no commands being sent to the unit.  If you have an iPad or iPhone, you can use the the U-Verse Easy Remote, to send voice commands to the DVR.

You do need an iPhone or iPad to use the app.  This is more information on that application.   http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=23394&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=35418  This is the video on the application.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz51-TEgFZw
