My wife and I really enjoyed this one. It's an Argentinian film about a boy with a big time (though not that uncommonly) dysfunctional family who's forced to live with his dying grandmother and make sense of the world himself.

OK, so the plot doesn't sound great, but the boy who plays the lead is absolutely captivating, and his inquisitive spirit shines through against his sad circumstances. Really a poigniant bitter-sweet film.

Sounds like a tear jerker, and it kind of is, but its not at all melodramatic (which really saves it) - just a sweet but melancholy film.

If you're not a fan of foreign films, maybe I'd stay away since the story is more personal and thoughtful than you'll get with Hollywood films, but overall I'd recommend it highly.

It was available at the local Blockbuster. Anyone seen it?
