value between Infocus X2 and Sharp XR-10X

859 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  klz614
I have decided to purchase an Infocus X2 or Sharp XR-10x for business. This projector needs to be capable of video as well as power point. Looking at the cost between the two, I wonder if I would be ahead going for the Sharp, even though it costs $300.00 more. It has a 3yr warranty that I would not have to pay extra for, and it has the higher resolution. Can anybody tell me what accessories come with the two projectors? If the Sharp has additional accessories, that would be a decisive factor.

Thank you for your help and support. I am very new at this!

I would buy the XR-10X for the better resolution, warrantry AND sealed optics that the X2 does not have.
what are sealed optics?
For business one of the best accessories is the 2 year 24 hour turnaround express repair unless you have pool projectors you can grab.

For $300 the Sharp is the better of the two. Brighter, more resolution, faster color wheel, quieter, sealed optics and much better warranty. The lack of DVI (M1-DA on the X2) is less important as I don't believe that the X2 has HDCP.

The optics are sealed so dust and smoke is less of an issue. Useful for bars, dusty environments, etc...

Some projectors are prone to "dust blobs" which require periodic cleaning. I don't know if the X2 is one of those but some are easier to clean (compressed air in the vents) while some are harder.

As I read on this forum, I am realizing how important the resolution is....especially to match up with the laptop computer. Is Sharp comparable to the other bigger names? Many of the companies above don't even carry Sharp. I would like to know if they stand behind their warranty.

Any experience out there?
Buy the Sharp at Costco. Won't matter if Sharp is good with warranties or not. Costcos return policy is very liberal. If you have a problem with the projector a year after the fact Costco will take it back. Many will attest to their return policies.
Thank you for all the info. I was looking for a Costco, but nothing in my region in Ohio. Couldn't even find it on their website, because they only list stores within 100 miles of where you live, and nothing came up. But it certainly would have been my first choice, Sharkbait.

Went to Sams and purchased it. I hope they will be comparable!

Thank you for the info on the optics, Nigel. I suppose since this will be predominantly used for classroom and the court system, the sealed optics may not have been an issue afterall.
