Verify my Wiring proposal Pls

I just purchased a Panasonic 42px60u and i am going to wall mount it. I am going to be viewing cable from my 4612 Motorola cable box and my HDMI compatible DVD player. I am going to be purchasing very soon a Speaker setup and a receiver.

I was hoping to have the cable box and dvd both go into a HDMI compatible receiver and have a single HDMI run to the TV.. with some speakers connected to the receiver. But after browsing this forum ive noticed there are issues involving the Motorola 4612 not working properly with any known HDMI switching Receiver.

So i was now planning to have my Cable box and DVD go into a HDMI switchbox..(Sima VS-HD31) or the like, allowing 1 HDMI to my TV. And then have an audio out from the Cable box to a reciever and from the DVD to the receiver.

I am wanting to do this because of the wall mounting i am doing.. I have installed a recepticle to code in the location needed on the wall behind the TV.. and i am running a 25ft long HDMI cable CL rated for in wall use (Blue jeans) to behind the TV as well..

Will there be any issues involving that wiring that I am not aware of? Will audio work fine going to the receiver in this manner... are there any special Speakers needed to take advantage of a Coax Audio or Optical audio cable? Thanks in advance for any input on my project.

If your talking digital from the cable box/DVD player to the receiver, no.

I don't know allot about HDMI. For reasons that you stated in your post, I am not yet a fan of this interconnect. If there are multiple HDMI inputs on your display, it might be better to run two cables to the display and do your switching there. It would eliminate a component.

The Motorola 6412 problem involves all repeaters not just AV receivers - so this won't work. I have the component output from the 6412 going into my Denon 4806 which then outputs HDMI. I can then use the single cable to my panel. My remaining devices use HDMI directly.

Interesting.. so i assume even something like Onkyo's TX-SR803 would be able to convert components coming in to HDMI out to the TV? I just wouldnt have Audio at the TV which is fine since ill be going with a surround sound setup.

My reading of the (admittedly vague) Onkyo marketing materials is that only the TX-NR1000 has it. The Denon AVR-2807 has it in the $1K price range though.
