CNET reports that Kazaa file swapping service has found allys in Verizon and other telecommunications and computer companies in their battle against Walt Disney Hollings and the movie industry and Enema (or is it eminem) and RIAA in the music industry. The way I understand it is that it works pretty much like radio now. Radio pays a royalty for playing. You get to copy. File swapping or download sites would have to pay a royalty for downloads. It may or may not be free to the consumer depending on how the particular business handles it. BUT you will be allowed to download and the computer industry and the telecommunications industry won't have to degrade their equipment ( and our enjoyment) to provide for anti-piracy.

They are in the process of proposing consumer friendly legislation.
