I just thought some people might be interested in this article I came across on the Web:
VGA Cabling Simplified via Twisted Pair

A long time ago, someone on this forum did post detailed instructions on a DIY VGA cable using shielded twisted pair. I have made one cable in the past using those instructions. The cable I made works well, but I didn't do the greatest job crimping the wires to the "terminators" and feeding them into the VGA housing connector. So it's very sensitive to being moved around.

Anyways, the article mentions using a VGA balun product. Not sure how expensive those run, but I'll probably end up doing that at some point. It does give some useful information like max distances, UTP vs. STP, etc.

I can't remember if it was VGA or component, but this was covered about 9 months ago. I think it was in the projectors forum (back when there was only 1). I think it was by Mr. Wigggles (yes 3 g's). It was using Cat 5, but I think the limit was 50 feet.
