I've been using the VGA -> Componet adapter to output from my laptop to the Hitachi 16:9 TV for some time now, but I just got this new laptop which I couldn't get the the powerstrip settings right. The laptop only has VGA output.


I'm thinking to get a VGA -> S-video cable off ebay. Just want to know if I still need to mass with the powerstrip setting, or it will just be plug and play since it's s-video.


I'm not concerned about the PQ, most of the content I watch are low PQ anyway.

I think what you'll need is a scan converter, I'm guessing the cable on ebay is for a Matrox card and won't work on other card. VGA->Svideo requires much more than just a cable.
