I am planning to buy one of the VGA to S-Video/RCA Composite Cable Adapters for my laptop to tv. it is somewhat old and cannot vga to vga. Does anyone know what the quality output is? i have a vga cable that connects from my laptop to a sony lcd... could anyone tell me in comparison with that? thx for the help

It'll be pretty bad. Say your laptop is set to 1280x800 (common for current models), well once you output standard NTSC interlaced (as you are doing) that resolution is essentially out the door. You will get 480i, and not great at that.


So ultimately if these is simply to surf the web or something, it will be okay. If you want to do gaming (or really anything demanding), I wouldn't bother.
