Although I would never be in the market for such a product I have an idea for a vibration isolater that would kick any other products but. Basically magnetic levitation. Has this been done?

I have some hard drive magnets that when in the propper orientation will easily draw blood and shatter themselves. Using magnets of this strength i could see making a small box with a floating platform, a fair number of magnets on the bottom and a couple on the sides to keep it from moving horizontally.

The only items that would induce any vibration would be the air (how about a semi sealed case of clear plexiglass?) and the cables used to connect the device.

On the bottom of the floating shelf you could have the magnets in the middle adjustable, maybe on little pegs so that you could counter act misbalenced items (like the side of the unit that has the large transformer or something).

Does that sound cool? Watch here in a few years i see my idea for sale by one of the HT forum readers ! :)

Personally i use cut up old mouse pads. Not sure it helps with the quality of the sound but it doesnt hurt. Definatly better than those little rubber, or even worse solid plastic feet.

I helped a freind do this and was able to blast one of those car audio bass cds a freind let me borrow without producing skip in the home cd player
