My daughter just picked up an old Victrola in really good condition (model VE-XVI). Her question has to do with the motor and it's replacement. Any Victrola experts out there or can someone point me to where I can get answers to specific questions.

Check out www.victor-victrola.com .

The VE means an electric motor was used, as opposed to the earlier spring-drive.

In general, there are companies that can rebuild almost any electric motor using the original motor frame, which is certainly going to be the best option.

Search for electric motor rebuilders and go that route.

Replacing the motor would seriously diminish the value and authenticity of the unit.
