The .mpg files resulting from grabbing movies off of my ShowStopper disk have a funny grey line at the top that has little black things moving around in it. Is there a way to get rid of it?

It's the closed caption data. The only thing to do would be to find a way to have the player clip that section off. (I'm surprised you didn't ask about the interlacing too...)

It looks like the 16:9 window has settled down to the bottom of the screen. I'm guessing this has something to do with the format of the video on the ShowStopper and/or the way extract_rtv handles it. Also, I'm noticing some little hesitations in the playback. Is there nothing that can be done? Is this how every mpeg ripped from RePlay video looks?

And what about interlacing? It's video... I would be surprised if it somehow wasn't interlaced.
