I have a very flexible & powerful setup, and I leave it so that the audio from my Replay & VCR run directly to my receiver, and I notice no problems. The video goes through my receiver, then to my ATI AIW 7500.

Oh, sorry. I don't think my equipment really matters, and I was subconciously bragging probably. Anyway, I have a Delta 1010LT as my main soundcard, and a Harmon Kardon AVR-320 for my receiver. The way I have everything set up is pretty darn flexible if I want it to be. Currently, I do not use S/PDIF output, because I think the WinDVD audio decoders are great. I output my music through outputs 7 & 8 (Media Jukebox allows you to select your outputs), which go to the CD input on my HK, then outputs 1-6 go to the direct inputs on my HK. My Soundblaster Audigy's outputs are connected to the Delta's inputs, and can then be patched through to the HK with no hassle if I wish to play a game that uses the Audigy. My SVHS VCR goes to the HK, as does my Replay. This way, I have full control, with little or no pain, over the processing I want to apply to my music, tapes, and TV. If I decide to let the HK do the DVD decoding, I can do that too, although I don't really like S/DIF, and WinDVD 3.2 has some trouble under XP with it's S/PDIF output. All-in-all, I am very pleased with how everything has worked out. I put a lot of effort & research into it, and the only thing I haven't decided on yet is whether or not to add a Dscaler compatible Svideo input card in.
