I have a client that is having a new house built, and he wants the ability to have any bedroom access his extensive DVD collection, and play a movie on demand. He also wants to try and not spend a fortune. So i have been doing my best to research solutions, and i was just hoping for a little advice.
First off, is there a networkable DVD changer, or do i just need to rip his entire collection? I am assuming i'll need to rip.
From there, it seems I'll need some sort of storage device, or media center to house the main collection, and serve the files, and then a front-end device for each room. Would a media center PC, and media center extenders accomplish my goals? Or should I be looking at some thing like a mediagate device, or Tvix?
I dont think HD is a big deal, but I'm sure album art is. I also think DVD menu navigation is a secondary concern, but it would be a plus.
The main thing would be an easy to use GUI on the front end, with good PQ, likely on standard def TVs, but there may be an HDTV or two.
The whole house will be wired with cat5, so that shouldnt be too much of a problem.
Thanks for all the help!!!
