so DVI should look just like my computer monitor, only on a large tv? i tried the s video and it was pretty good, but we dont have a hdtv yet. My computer doesnt have a dvi input so the best i could do for recording video is S
If you have an antenna and live in a US region covered by HD OTA broadcasts, then OTA HD via a PC capture card would allow you to record OTA video in HDTV digital component quality, not limted to S-video or composite analogue connectivity.
If you are in the UK and some other European countries, then you could use a DVB-T capture card, to capture 4:3 and 16:9 SD digital component broadcasts, again an improvement over S-video.
If you are in the US and have an HD satellite or cable receiver, then Firewire MPEG2 HD capture is also an option.
DVI will be a MAJOR improvement over S-video for display on a TV in almost any situation.
