The RS20 has a CMS - it looks like it may have some issues right now but hopefully that will be fixable by firmware. Currently your only options are a Lumagen Radiance or one of their Vision series models (which use DVI and only do primary color correction). Personally I wouldn't spend the extra money on a VP just for a CMS if you're looking at an RS20 - aside from the increase in CR, that's one of the big features that you're paying for over an RS10.

Many recent displays have a green color point that is well outside the color triangle. We have received many reports from customers that they have greatly improved the color on their displays by using the Lumagen CMS system to reduce the over saturated green.

We have technical tips on the Lumagen website that show the procedure for using the CMS system on the Vision and Radiance video processors.

Isn't the best place for this stuff to happen in the display?

I mean any video processor is going to take 8 bit input and do 8 bit output. I know the processing of the signal usually happens at 10bit or more, but with 8 bit output aren't we loosing alot of signal data, especially if the display isn't all that close to begin with?

I'm not saying that these are bad products in the least. I'm just wondering if this is a real issue and what the solutions are (xvYCC)?

I own a Lumagen VisionHDP and have calibrated systems with the Radiance. I don't mean to bad mouth the Vision series, but the CMS in them has some serious flaws in my experience. However, the Radiance CMS works well. In addition to the CMS, all the Lumagens are absolutely top notch in their calibration flexibility. The thing is, though, the RS20 is very good in that department also. If you have a PJ that can use help with gamma, grayscale tracking, or color decoding, the Lumagens can make a huge difference.

I can't see any degradation doing the adjustments in it rather than the display.

Thanks to all who have responded. I was hoping there was a suitable alternative to the Lumagen Radiance as it is out of my price range. I think the best thing I can do at this point is purchase an i1pro to use with the RS 20 CMS to calibrate the P/S colors in addition to my Chroma 5. It may well be that the difficulties noted with the RS 20's CMS are related to the P/S being measured with an inexpensive colorimeter instead of a inexpensive spectroradiometer!

Greetings

Not quite.
Even my $12000 meter can't get it to come in. The THX mode on the 750 series measures just fine.

regards
