I am currently being offered by my installer the VP-6000VHD or the VP5000VHD. The latter is a 1080P panel. Both have outboard video processors. Viewing distance will be around 8-12 feet. It will replace a panny 659UK.

Anybody who has any opinion on both displays? I was just thinking of trying to future-proof myself with the 1080P but would like the 60" panel. I don't really have any 1080P sources yet. Mainly have directTV as a source and a DVD player that I hope the processor would upscale.

Any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Both panels would be acquired at the same price.

Both are fantastic. I am a Vidikron dealer and I live with a VP-5000 at home (although not the VHD version)

The Scaler on both is the same unit, it is just flashed with different firmware to operate properly with the connected display. Basically the big differnece is the fact that the 5000 vhd is a natice 1080p panel while the 6000 vhd is 768.

The obvious question is, do you see any pixels from you're seating distance now? how close to you have to get before they become evident? This is the main questions I would ask, since the pixel size on the 6000 will be larger than you're current 65" 1080 poanasonic.

BTW: my panel looks awesome, and my neighbor (who bought a panasonic) comes over all of the time and mentions how great mine looks - and how much less his was. You always get what you pay for.

+1.I currently have a 720p Fujitsu(4 years old) and am looking at a new display.I don't like Pioneer and the Vidikron is priced at the Pioneer level.
