View / Control Apple TV 4K From PC?

699 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  aeneas01
is it possible to view an apple tv 4k (desktop / gui) from a host pc and control it as well with the host keyboard / mouse?

for example i can easily do this with any of the pc's on my network using chrome remote desktop, and i can also easily do this with any of the android devices on my network using adb scrcpy - by "this" i mean view (desktop / gui) any of the devices on my network from a host pc and control them using the host keyboard / mouse.

so is there a way to do it with apple tv 4k? i looked into airparrot 2 but, unfortunately, it seems to yet another mirror / casting application as opposed to a remote desktop application.

thanks!

I don't believe so, but I could be wrong.

However, it is possible to pair a Bluetooth keyboard to the ATV, which goes a long way towards freeing oneself from the horrible remote. I have an old Apple wireless keyboard that is dedicated to the ATV, and use it 99% of the time. The arrow keys handle navigation left/right/up/down, the return key selects, the escape key goes back, and the space key pauses/plays. Number and letter keys work, too, of course, for searching etc.

yes, i've read about remote control options for the atv4k but, honestly, so far i'm finding the remote that came with the atv4k to be just fine, does what i need, but if that turns out not to be the case down the road i have a few bluetooth devices i can try.

that said, that's not what my post is about, instead i'm looking for a remote desktop solution that will allow me to view the atv4k's desktop on my pc and control it, just as if i was sitting in front of a display connected to the atv4k, which i can do with other networked pc and android devices.
