Vip 722 failing?

911 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  TheKrell
My 3 year old VIP 722 is having problems playing back recorded shows. When watching a recorded program the video sometimes gets blocky and the audio gets choppy. Sometimes the audio drops all together, but if I pause and then play, the sound will come back. Also using the skip back or pause function on live tv (and recordings much of the time) seems to have problems too. If you pause, when you play again, the dvr switches to live within 10 s or so and you can't watch the material in between. Is my hd or box failing? And whAt do I do about it? Wife is about ready to throw the whole thing out of the window

Just for grins, unplug the 722 for about 5 minutes and then plug it back in. If that doesn't help call Dish and they will probably replace it, whether you own it or lease it, it doesn't matter....
The internal hard drive is almost certainly failing. If it's leased, Dish will replace it for $15 shipping. If you have the Protection Plan, then the replacement will be free.
