Vip Stopped Acquiring Signal

576 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  jtrippe
Last night, all of the sudden, my Vip211 stopped acquiring the satellite signal. I didn't do anything to the unit or the dish. We had perfect weather too. I tried a soft reset and a hard reset. Nothing worked. I called Dish tech support and they went through the motions with me. The check switch turned up no signal. I re-checked my connections and tried resetting and check switching again. Nothing! No one is able to come out from Dish until Sunday afternoon. I need my college football. Anyone have this problem before? Anyone know a fix? Maybe I need a new receiver. This is crazy. There's nothing new in the way blocking the signal. I have a perfect view of the sky and I've always gotten great signal strengths for all three satellites that I get (119, 100 and 121). Thanks in advance for the advice.

Well, if you are looking at 119, 100 and 121 with a VIP that may be part of your problem as it should be looking at 110/119/129. If you mistyped those, then proceed to step 2 - otherwise, you have a dish alignment issue.

If you have a switch that has power going to it, put the ac plug to the switch as well as the AC plug to the VIP.

Plug the AC back to the switch after 30 seconds.

Wait 10 seconds and plug in the ViP.

If that doesnt reset it, start a bar tab.

SuperDish is 105/110/119 or 110/119/121 - not what he listed.

Furthermore, I seriously doubt anyone would pay around $500 for a 622 HD-DVR and the extra cost for the HD Package without getting the Voom HD Channels and other HD Offerings from 129 (or 61.5) - especially as he mentions sports (College Football)- ESPN2-HD wouldnt be available.
I'm sorry about the confusion. It's the 129 satellite, not the 121.

I don't think I have a switch with power going to it. The only thing powered is the 211 itself. I've tried unpluggng the power to the unit and waited a few minutes. That didn't help. I think it's the unit that's messed up.

P.S. Football just isn't as good in analog.
