Vista Media Center Addons

Hello All,

I was wondering if we can make a list of Vista Media Center add-ons on this thread since all the lists available out there (such as this; http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/20347.aspx ) are mainly for MCE 2005 and stuff which do not necessarily work on/for Vista media center. So let's please start n addons list here for "Vista Media Center" only.

I would also like to know if there is an addon out there that enables Vista media center to display all installed tuners and their current statuses and allow one to select which tuner to view. I am basically looking to replicate a feature I find very useful in dual tuner cable set top boxes where the remote comes with a "Swap" button to switch between tuners at anytime. But since such a button does not exist on Vista media center remotes I was hoping for there to be an addon that can do this within Vista MCE since there seems not to be this feature/functionailty inbuilt in Vista MC. And perhaps go a step further to have a remote button that has no use during TV watching/recording to call this feature (such as using the left and right buttons to switch between tuner 1 and tuner 2 for example).

Thank you.

You might also like checking out WebGuide. It lets you set your computer up for remote scheduling of tv shows, streaming of videos and music, etc.

It is really cool.
jerrytdss, I have seen that tuner priority tool, however, while Vista MC already handles that feature since I will have same tuner models anyway, what I am trying to achieve is to be able to change from tuner to tuner at will perhaps to take a peek at what the other tuner is showing and either stay there if I want or switch back to the other tuner is I like, while the buffer for each tuner remains unchanged.

brainchild356, Yes, I have just actually bookmarked WebGuide and downloaded it for installation and setup. I just wonder how one can apply an SSL certificate at least for authentication purposes if not for streaming and everything else as well because it seems the cassini web server it uses does not support SSL certificates which makes it unsecure. Perhaps that os why some people prefer to configure it with IIS because it supports SSL certs.

Thanx guys.

I didn't realize that Vista tuned two at once, only when recording. I have the HDHomerun and I've never seen two of the lights lit up(signifying that two channels were tuned in) at the same time, with the exception of when it is recording one channel while I'm watching another or I'm recording two at once.
Is there an addon for playing .MKV files on VMC x64 without the stutter? Or is this more of a codec issue?
rebkell, so you mean the secondary tuner is alwasy off unless when recording? I don't know this because I am going to order the OEM to install an additional tuner on my media center to have a dual tuner capability similar to what I currently have on my set top box. Please elaborate further, and when you say "light" which lights do you mean and what tuner model do you have on what system?

Thanx.

I assume you're using ffdshow tryouts as a decoder. Try turning the OSD on, and putting the font size to 3, with the x scaling and the y scaling to 30%.

Also, another issue I had was that if AA and AF are turned on in the videocard settings, you'll also get stuttering.

As for the op, MyMovies (mymovies.name) is technically still a hosted HTML app but it works on Vista.

Also, there's myTV (mytv.senseitweb.com) which works great for organizing TV.

Thanks! I will give that a try.

Also, is there an addon/plugin for PDVD yet?

I had some stutter issues with .MKV files ans xvid files after i updated to the latest nvidia video card drivers. It was resolved by going back one release.

The best I can tell, the 2nd tuner isn't doing anything, if it's not recording. The tuner is the Silicon Dust HDHomerun(the lights I was referring to signify the streams coming out of the 2 tuners to the PC, via ethernet). I don't think it has dual buffers, which is what you're interested in, isn't it? I don't know of any way to swap tuners and have them both buffering. I'm no expert on Media Center, so I may just be showing my ignorance here.
This is the most inportant one to me. W/out this I would have not used MCE at all.

Works great and I ripped my store bought DVD's using anydvd and clone dvd into a Video TS file. (dvd File, not ISO) and then use this web site to download XML file and add that to the Vidio TS file which I rename to the movie name.

The beta of TVToolbox has currently expired but it is a handy utility for editing non-protected video recordings within the 10 foot interface. It works very well, but I do wish they would release it.

It can be found at www.mcedev.com
Hello All,

Since WebGuide comes with Cassini webserver that does not support SSL certificates, has anyone been able to successfully set up WebGuide with IIS and an SSL certificate on Vista with full access to all of media center locally and remotely?

Detailed instructions and screenshots would do a great deal.

Thanx.
