Hello all,

I'm running a Vista Media center system and need some help getting my RC to fully work. My hardware setup is a Dell Studio (running Vista Ultimate x64), Hauppauge Wintv-HVR-1250, and a Logitech Harmony 880 remote. My goal here is to make this as easy as humanly possible so that my wife can use it when I'm not around. I have successfully setup the Harmony to work with MCE by using the IR receiver for the WinTV device and can control most of VMC. There are two exception though: Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 Ultra and Netflix. I can browse within VMC without event, and run any other task/application. However, once I drill down into either PDVD or NF, the only function that works on the RC is 'exit', which backs me out to MCE. The keyboard still works, but once again the goal is the make this super easy (dare I say 'idiot proof' since my wife will NEVER see this posting). It appears that my only option is to re-map the keys, but I'm a little fuzzy on the best way to do this. Plus, if I can get away with it, I'd prefer to NOT purchase software to do it (but if I must, I must). I toyed with the option of buying cyberlinks RC, but then I'd still have to remap to get NF to work so I nixed that idea.

Can anyone help to get me started on this? I figured there's enough geniuses out on this forum that SOMEONE must have something (a little flattery never hurt anyone
).

TIA

AutoHotKey is a free key mapping program.

Try it and see for yourself.

Its been a while since I used it so I can't give you specific directions. It involves code writing but it is pretty straight forward.

And of course Cyberlink's help files have all the keyboard shortcuts. All you have to do is simulate the keyboard shortcuts with the remote control.

The autohotkey script runs in the background and translates the remote signals into shortcuts.

BTW: What kind of IR receiver does the WinTv use? If its IRTrans you are out of luck and will have to use a key mapping program.

PowerDVD works natively with RC6 IR receiver. So if you have one you might want to try that. Or you can get one for cheap on ebay (Remote + USB Receiver). Plug the receiver into any usb port and check if PowerDVD works with the included remote. If its RC6, it definitely should work. Then all you have to do is program your Harmony with the RC6 remote.

Here's one.

Have been using it for more than a year, guaranteed to work with Vista MCE and PowerDVD.

Thanks for the info.

I decided to give LM Remote Keymap a try and it seems to be working. The only thing I couldn't get to go was the 'skip forward' key, but I'll mess with it a little bit more. Also, seems there was an update to the Netflix VMC plugin and now the remote works.

Thanks
