why are you posting this in the $3000 and over forum???

Just general interest, sorry if I wasted your time . . . .

I think its very relevant to this forum as pricing like this should have an effect on the pricing of mid to upper end 1080p projectors.

If that indeed happens it will be interesting to see what happens to the remaining 720p models.

Yes, and apparently they say this it to be shipping in August?? Have you guys heard anything from this company about sales?? We've seen their top end (LED) and their bottom end ($999 1080P Darkchip II) , I wonder what they have up the middle??

considering my perfect projector - dlp, led, infinite contrast ratio, at least 120 hz input, around $5K- is probably about 3 years away, I find this pretty interesting.

I've been looking at used rs1, vw60 or new lcds to hold me over for the next few years....at around $2-$2.5K price range. If this does not have any major flaws, this could be a great option....however I have no confidence that we'll see anything close to 1,800 lumens AND a 5K CR. but, for that price, I could probably even live with a few minor flaws.

will be interesting to see if a stack would be possible - I'm thinking 3D....I wonder if the Nvidia solution can be used with two displays...

After thinking about it, I don't think this pj will affect this market range that much this year. It might bring some pressure on the other DLP manufacturers to lower their prices next year, which will in turn have an affect on LCD/LCOS manufacturers.
