Vizio 42" L42 or Sony Bravia 40" KDF-40S20L1?

I currently have the Vizio 42" L42 which is like - I purchased it at Sams Club before the policy changed - so I have the "liberal" return policy.

Sams currently has the Sont Bravia S-Series KDF-40S20L1 in stock. I could swap the 2....but it will be a long hard battle to repackage, box up, and transport the Vizio back to Sams.

Is the Sony a significant step up from what I have - or are they going to ultimately look similar? I use this TV primarily for light SD watching, moderate Blu-Ray/DVD watching and alot of 720p/1080i gaming with my PS3 and Wii.

Both are 720p natives....while the sony as 1:1300 contract ratio vs. 1:1000 on the Vizio.

Thanks!

If I were you I'd wait a little longer as 720P's are dropping in price and soon will be phased out for 1080P. Vizio is coming with a 42" 1080P for the same price as the GV42L in a couple of months. Just my two cents.

I have three HDTVs, one is a 42" Philips LCD 1080p for $1299 at Costco. Very happy with it.
