Just purchased the 550VM TV sold at BJ's and Samsclub for $1499.

I ran into a problem i wanted everyone to know about.

I plugged in my 3 HDMI based devices (cable, xbox360,DVD player) and used the Digital Audio out from the TV to the REceiver only to find that it will only send Stereo to the receiver. After talking to Vizio, they referred me to page 37 which states that Dobly 5.1 will only come out of the TV if you use Coaxial DTV input.

BIG bummer. Am returning this weekend.

Is this common practice in TV's? Help me find a 52 or 55" TV with matte finish with dolby 5.1 out coming from HDMI.

Yes it's common in all the tvs, stereo out the optical unless you are using an antenna. Just run optical cables from your items directly into your receiver and you'll get surround. HDMI into the tv for video and turn off the tv's sound.

If you like the pic on the tv, keep it, I think there is one maker allowing 5.1 out the optical but it doesn't work right. Problems with the signal.
