I would leave surround off, as well as volume leveling. I also have my audio out set to auto, but bitstream is fine too.

Vizio tv audio options on/off when using sound bar help
I have a vizio TV with vizio 5.1 sound bar. Have it set arc hdmi.
I have TV speakers off.
Do I turn off surround on the tv audio settings, or leave it on? Also has the volume leveling setting. on or off?
The sound bar has the same settings.. Seems like it would be conflicting each other.
I can find no mention of this anywhere on the web and am surprised no one in audio world has brought it up. And I have searches it 21 ways till sunday... sheesh..
