Sounds like you have a problem with the PC not being able to go to S3 after a resume (goes to S1 instead). Do you have MST configured for S3 only (no S3/S4 Hybrid)? Try removing the ability of your mouse/keyboard to resume from standby (power button will still work to resume).
It's sounds most likely though, that one of your device drivers does not fully recover after resuming and is keeping your system from entering S3. Maybe try updating your drivers and only using WHQL certified drivers to eliminate any possible issues.
