Wondering if anyone can help me

I have my TV connected to my Yamaha HTR 5740 through the DTV input. The problem is that there is a major difference in sound between the TV and DVD/CD player input. The TV volume is very quiet vs the DVD player (annoying to change the volume when switching inputs). Any suggestions on how I can equalize the volume levels of the 2 inputs. Thanks for the help.

Assuming you're using analog L and R cables between the tv and the receiver you might want to check the following:

The level of the audio output jacks on many tvs varies with the volume setting on the set, even if the set's own speakers are turned off. This is because some people like to control the volume with the set's remote even when running it thru a receiver. Some sets let you choose whether the audio outputs are the standard line level or are variable depending on the volume setting on the set.

I'd suggest you check the user menu and the owner's manual for your set to see if the analog audio outputs on your set are controlled by the set's volume control and whether or not you can change this to a line level out.
