This has bugged me for a little while, but for some reason it was more so today while I watched the eal Madrid vs alencia game.

While watching the game normally the PJ seems to cut off quite a bit of the picture. When you switch to the program guide and the channel is displayed up in the upper right, you can clearly see the whole graphic with the score and a bit of offset to the edge of the picture. So, if I had to guess, the pj is cutting off maybe 50 pixels on each side.

The pj is connedted to the voom box via component video. When I try to mess with the zoom mode, it simply tells me this isn't allowed. On the pj's info screen, it says its in mode 5, and I can't change that either.

My feeling is that it some sort of pj setting that I haven't figured out, although it could be a voom box problem. Any ideas?

An update:

I tried viewing a game through my Tivo (just a plain vanilla Tivo) which is attached via S-video from Voom to Tivo and Tivo to HS20. It has a more pronounced cropping (just). And that doesn't matter what zoom mode you use - even with full through. I believe full through is supposed to be a 1:1 pixel mapping affair.

I just got a DVI->HDMI cable for computer use (that's a whole 'nother can of worms).

But before I started in with the computer, I tried it out on my Voom box. I still had some overscan, but it was just a tiny bit less than with the component cables. When I went to the info screen, it had the same preset number 5.

If anybody has any ideas on how to solve this, I greatly appreciate it.

1:1 pixel mapping via DVI with either a HTPC or a stand alone player like the Momitsu or Bravo is the only way to avoid overscan with the HS20. This can not be avoided with a STB.
