I'm looking at a Voom Motorola HDTV Receiver 550. I can pick one up pretty cheap. The only reason I want it is to pick up OTA HD channels in my area. Does anyone know if his receiver will work for that if I don't have a subscription to Voom?
Me. As long as it is disconnected correctly it works. Correctly means that it is removed from the sat dish prior to calling in and cancelling so that the card does not get the kill signal. If you ever hook it back up, it will die.
Not sure what you mean... but I hooked the box back up to my sat line and within 2 hours it had received the kill signal and no longer worked. Then I turned Voom back on anyway
Oh, I get it. You disconnected it from the dish permanently and then terminated service. Since the service was terminated there wasn't a need to reconnect the cables leading to the dish. Doh! Pulled a Homer, here.
