Just got my Sony vph-1252Q in. When powered up the red looks Orangish.

I have not done anything but power it up. Is this anything to worry about?

Do you mean it looks orange on the screen?

You just have the red gun on right? The other guns are off.

Is the screen white?

How does the colour look on the tube face?

Does the red tube have any burn?

Check the lense for dust.

Does the tube face look clean.. the coolant a uniform colour. could be fungus.

Has it got colour corrected lenses? Perhaps the wrong lens is on the red tube.

Could be so many things... more information required.

Let me explain: I picked it up from the shipping dock, brought it home and powered it up, I had read enough to know about the dreaded "it powered up for a few seconds and then shut down". Mine powered up and stayed up, but upon looking through the lenses the red looked orange, blue and green looked blue and green. I need to install screen and ceiling mount, so I have not tried to throw a picture yet. I was just wondering if this was something I should start worrying about. Thanks

It should look red whilst looking through the lense.

1) Could be as simple as dust between the lense and the tube face.

2) Could be the wrong color corrected lense if you have them.

3) Could be fungus in the red coolant.

4) Could be a burnt red tube.

Problems 1 and 2 are easy to check and fix.

Problem 3 will be obvious once you project an image as the red focus will be poor and uneven.

Problem 4 will also be obvious when an image is being projected.

It also may have the G2's or contrast set way too low and thus the red may seem orange to you.

Get an image up and see how it looks and take it from there.
