I've got an old vsx-53tx that doesn't output sound via the speaker terminals, aside from the occasional sound which is extremely similar to a lightsaber. Despite how cool that sound is, I wanted to see if there is a particular component I should look at replacing in order to fix this.

Can't tell you what could be wrong. but maybe you could sell it to some geeky Star Wars fan boi

I took the cover off. Nothing obviously wrong though. No noises coming from any components. No smells, no magic blue smoke, no brown burn marks.


I was just curious if there were any components in particular I should look at. If I had to take a guess, despite zero expertise on the mechanics of amps, I would guess that the high regulation audio power transformer took a hit. But, I have no way of knowing or confirming.
