VTF-15H MK2 vs Rythmik (Local) help me choose.

3765 Views 48 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  Soulburner
I put in an order for the VTF-15H MK2, but just discovered that Rythmik is right down the road from me. I would rather support local and I wouldn't have to pay shipping.
What do you guys think of Rythmik and what sub of there's would be close to the VTF-15H MK2?

That is no brainer then. Get the FV15HP

You would need the fv15hp to beat the vtf15 and that is a step up in price.
That's my thought also. Unless I can get a good discount saving on shipping. Don't see how I could justify a large price jump. Both are on BO as well.

Think you will be looking around $350 difference after adding in the shipping for HSU and deducting the shipping for the Rythmik. Depends on your situation but for difference in performance that is not a huge difference IMO. Connect with Rythmik and find out

Are you saying the Rythmik is a significant upgrade for only 350?

Yes. The FV15HP it's s significant step up.

Having owned FV15HP and currently owning VTF15 MK2, I beg to differ. FV15HP is great, but HSU is all round performer including lower ends. To my ear, HSU gives more varying bass and best bang for the buck.

That's distortion that you are hearing in the HSU. If you had measured the two you would have seen it. If you like it then that is all that matters. If you are comparing specific elements then the Fv15HP is a better sub all around

It isn't huge by the numbers. The vtf15 is very stout.

Not an expert by any stretch, but have heard enough subs to know the difference between normal bass vs distortion. To say HSU puts out distortion cannot be further from truth. Rythmik has more slams at low end and is a great sub, but HSU's bass is more rich and full at least to my ear. I have a large and weird layout and HSU is able to pressurize the room much better than Rythmik.

if you look at the cea-2010(which seems to be what is being referenced in this thread) with both in max extension the hsu is within a fraction of a dB averaged from 16-100hz. Now take a deeper dive and look at the way the harmonics and someone could argue the hsu(with more even order) would sound at least as good. So I wouldn't stress too much about the naysayers..:)

OP, you have nothing to lose since Rythmik is local to you. Get the FV15HP and give it a try. I would take advantage of being local to Rythmik and hit up Bryan.
I’m local as well. It was down to PSA (since you’re in the thread … hi @Tom Vodhanel ;! Really like your products!) and Rythmik and I was really on the fence as you are with the HSU. Agonizing over measurements and specs and blah blah blah.

I went with Rythmik purely because they were local. I saved on shipping and if I wasn’t happy, the return was easy and I could go with PSA. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, had I been local to PSA, I’d have gone the other way for the same reasons.

I haven’t heard the HSU personally, but they have a good reputation as do Rythmik and PSA. I think you’ll be happy any way you choose.

Also, if you ever have any problems with rythmik sub, it will be easier to drive and get it fixed compared to shipping it out. Yoh also have to account for taxes.

I think the point was, with Rythmik being local and the discount in shipping that at a less than 350 dollar difference the Rythmik starts to make sense. If with discounted shipping, the difference was less than 100 bucks, it might be silly to choose the HSU, IMO.
If you can look at this data, and with a straight face, tell me that there isn't a significant difference in performance then I'll kiss your ass.

And Tom, next time you get a thought in your head...think a little before you go mouthing off. It's getting a bit tiresome...

Thanks guys, I'm waiting to hear back from Rythmik. I texted, but they are probably off today.
I'm curious if I really need the high power version. Is there that much of noticeable different between the FV15 and FV15HP.

There is the FXV15 and the FV15HP, and yes, you want the FV15HP. It is the King of 15" subs for a reason, so I don't know what the hell everyone else is talking about with their "naysayers" BS, because the data is there to prove otherwise.

Hope this helps...and sorry for the little rant. Lol. Some people just don't know when to quit.

Again, I hope this helps,

Darrell

I think I might pay an extra 100 bucks for that. Even 200. But Im baised in knowing what the Rythmik's sound like. In full disclosure, I haven't heard an HSU. Once again, for a few bucks to get better extension, output, AND LOCAL SUPPORT, I wouldn't hesitate.
