I am looking at these subs.. Based on my room settings and size and listening habits, SVS recommended the P2B-ISD, but this may be a little expensive for me... So later SVS recommended 25-31PCi if I didn't want to spend as much...

I just want to know what some other users think...

I trust the 25-31 is a good choice, but I was wondering if VTF-2 is a better value or equal or better performance...

nrezaie, All of the subs that you have mentioned are going to be great performers. If I had to take a guess I would say that you are going to get the most output out of the 25-31pci. With room gain you will be able to get into the 20-21hrz range playing flat. With your size room, I would go for the sub that is going to give you the most output. My brother has a 22-31csi and I am constantly amazed with the punch, and it's ability to shake the room. Tom and Ron know what they are doing so if they thought the 25-31pci would be the best fit, chances are it will. Good luck with your decision!

If you can wait until the end of October, the new STF-3 may be a great cost effective option. For $610, it should be equal to a VTF-3 in maximum output mode.

The size of my room is 14 x 18 with a sloping ceiling from 8 to 9 feet, one uncloseable door way to the kitchen, and my VTF-3 is MUCH more than I need.

Well, all the options are great. The 20-39 PCI will probably outgun the VTF-2 in terms of clean output in the lowest frequencies.Sound quality wise, I'm sure that they both are amazing performers.

What type of output levels are you looking to get?

If you want to save money and go lower, get the 25-31Pci and have them retune it to 22hz(they do this for free, all you have to do is ask). OTOH, the VTF2 is a potent performer but like goneten said, the SVS will be capable more clean output.

I really do like high output, but I just want what's best for me and my room.. I would also definitely like something that has the capability of going very low. I really only listen to DVDs, so I don't know that it matters, since I don't think most DVD sound tracks have such low frequency in the 20Hz ballpark.. I don't know??..

Tom suggested that alot of subs probably reach their operating limits quickly in my room, and that is why he originally recommended the PB2-ISD, but I don't know that I want to spend that much, so he recommended the 25-31PCi cause of it's high output..

I have the 22-31 pci and it provides more than enough ouput for my room and I have it turned up only 1/3 of the way. If your room has carpeting, then it should go another 2-3 hz lower which should cover most if not all of the existing DVD's.

My living/HT room is 20x18 with ceilings that slope from 15ft to 9ft. Also, I have an entry way, stairway, and opening to the kitchen and family room. The 25-31 or 22-31pci will have more than enough ouput for your room.
