Okay...so I got that wishfull thinking feeling seeing the Sith promo on HBO that has OAR clips. I don't have HBO HD but I looked at the schedule on their site and there are NO Sith showings on HBO HD listed; yet there are for like Batman Begins. So I take it there will be no HD showing for me to miss out on???

The guide is probably not up to date.
Don't worry, it will be HD. The "HDTV" notations don't show up until the very end of the month on their website for next month's listings.
Yea,I thought that it was pretty much known that Sith, HBOHD, June 3rd 8:00PM. Am I wrong ?
Any Chance Episode III on HBO would be OAR? I would have to say zero chance, but occasionally they surprise you.
Zero chance. The force is not with us. HBO will continue to strike back.

The showed Girl with a Pearl Earring[2003] in OAR 2.35:1 a few months ago. I know it's unusual, and almost always an old xfr, but occasionally they show a newer movie with 5.1 sound AND the OAR (non 1.85:1 OAR). They also showed Titanic in OAR I believe, an older movie but a newer xfr I believe.
TITANIC was the same old transfer from 99. Lions Gate Films are shown OAR once in a while on HBO and some Paramount catalogue titles are provided to HBO that way as well.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas presented HBO with an OAR print. (and then HBO Reformats it :()

If it were up to be it would be OAR on the SD channel as well.

Ocean's Twelve premiered on both Cinemax-HD and HBO-HD in OAR 2.35:1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 a few month's ago.

A poster above referenced Girl with a Pearl Earring which premiered last year in OAR 2.35:1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 as well.

These occurences are very rare however, again these two are the only recent films that i'm aware of that have been displayed in OAR, wider than 1.85:1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 on HBO-HD/Cinemax-HD.

The Peacemaker which is OAR 2.35:1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 shouldn't be included in this discussion because it's one of the "older" transfers that has been used since that film premiered on HBO, in 1998 or '99?

Episode III needs to be OAR, but hey every film should be OAR. Unfortunately HBO doesn't have this policy.

That's why I mainly only watch their original Programming.

I was thinking (hoping) the same thing. Being the micromanaging nitpicker that he is, perhaps Lucas had a stipulation that it be shown OAR to whichever network he was selling the broadcasting rights? A guy can dream right?

If that were the case than why allow "full-screen" dvd's.

ah yes, your correct.
Doesn't HBO currently own the rights to all 6 episodes ? If so, I would have thought they'd show them all around the time the ROTS made it's debut
