wall mount for my NEC LT240? not many options...

477 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  tlamano
hi all! ok, its time to finally get my aging NEC LT240 mounted up on the wall, and off that box on the floor! i have an unusual theatre room situation though, i have *very* tall vaulted cathedral ceilings and would really like to mount the projector up on the back wall of room, w/ some kind of 'joint' to make it work...

while surf online i find a mount like this , this is what i am talking about. can anyone point me towards an appropriate mounting system for my LT240, that is arranged like the model i link to above? thx in advance for any pointer and cheers friends..!

that is a slick looking unit at that link.

However, for $245, I believe you may well be better off simply putting a shelf on the wall at the appropriate height.

If you install a shelf at the correct height on the wall, I can't think of any adjustments that you might need that wouldn't be covered by the regular adjustments available with the PJ.

Devise a method of securing it after adjustments have been made ( maybe a strap of some sort across the unit) and you'd be off and running. Wouldn't look as professional but should work fine -

Actually, from a decorating viewpoint, a shelf viewed from below might fit in better overall dependent on a variety of factors.

If you're not comfortable with that - search mandarax posts here at avs, or PM him, I vaguely think he made a mount for the LT 240.

OTOH, while $245 for a mount seems a little steep - since it is a universal mount it ought to work with the next PJ also.

And it _is_ a slick looking unit _big grin_

thx for your reply Ken... i would much rather have my LT240 on a nice-looking wooden shelf that matched my theatre room, but from what i understand it must be upside-down (hope that is right english term), that it must be hanging or will not ventilate..?

i agree, $245 seems quite high for something such mundane purpose, but i do not see many option for my need when projector must hang off of wall at my room..

I purchased a tv wall mount from my local home depot for about $50. They are designed to hold a 70 pound tv. You mount it on the wall inverted. with the Pj attached to it by the screw holes on the bottom. Works perfectly.

Well, not really. If you just put it on a shelf at say 6 or 7 feet hi - without inverting - It'll be just like on a coffee table that's six feet up. _big grin_ You'll be fine on ventilation, etc.

They invert on ceiling mounts because the screen to lens angle will then be similar to on a table - if you don't invert on the ceiling, most PJ's don't have enough shift or adjustment to take the high angle - however, I think the LT240 probably has enough adjustment

Doesn't the LT240 have 3D reform? I think the NEC units that have 3D reform have enough keystone correction to handle the situation - I think most people don't realize that there's a tremendouse amount of adjustment availble on the 3D reform - really quite a bit.

Play around with the vertical Keystone adustment and you will see what I mean.

Why don't you try taking a 6 foot step ladder, clamp a board on top and place the PJ on it and see how it works? Watch one of your favorite movies on that you're very familiar with and see if the arrangement has any noticeable distortion.

If it looks good, put up a shelf and run the wires - has the advantage that you can reach it on a step stool to clean the filter, change a bulb or otherwise get to the unit.

If it works OK, I like the idea of matching the decor, simplicity, not to mention the low cost _big grin_

This should also work well -

I'm using a factory ceiling mount on my MT1060 - the PJ is of course inverted, and held to the bracket only by 4 screws on the bottom -

Shivaji appears to be saying that all you have to do is drill four holes correctly located for the holes in the NEC.

I had good luck with one of these mounting a Benq PB6100 to the wall.

Very sturdy, I think it will hold 25 lbs.

Can't get the url to display properly. Search for "projector wall mount" or item # 5753872754 on ebay.
