I am going to wall mount my TV and want to replace my outlet with a Leviton 5280 outlet which also offers some surge protection. It offers only 720 joules of protection, is this enough?


I did some research and do not want to get a kit to install because by the wall mounted TV, there is also a Left,Right,Center and Sub which all require a power source to be plugged in and in order to keep it "neat" I will dedicate each equipment with a Leviton outlet, of course if 720 joules is enough.

Destructive surges are hundreds of thousands of joules. You probably should read "Surge protection. Voltage regulation. UPS" at (written this way due to restrictions):
