We recently moved into our new house which has 2 wall speakers in the living room and one in the nearby kitchen.

 

I have

 

-Vizio sound bar with wireless sub

-Vizio TV

-Wall speakers measure living room 7"x10 1/2", kitchen 7" circle. Not sure on brand

 

I would like to wire these speakers and sound bar to a receiver. I have a yahama receiver in the basement with 5.1 that I really like, but I am not dead set on the new receiver being a Yamaha.

What exactly do you want help with? You didn't ask a question.


Pictures and a better description of current/proposed speaker placement and what you want to use the current speakers for, (fronts, surrounds, rears, WHA, etc.), might help as well.

I'd like to hook up the soundbar into a receiver as well as the wall speakers.


Soundbar is mounted below TV.

Rectangle speakers are mounted at L and R rear of living room.

Circle speaker is in kitchen.


Can I wire the soundbar as the center/lL/R front settings and the wall as rear L/R?


How would I wire the soundbar to the receiver? Since it's powered on its own wox I damage the receiver?

I haven't bought a receiver yet. Id like something with bluetooth and something compatible with RoomieRemote.

That soundbar is only two channels... so you can't use it as L/C/R... only as L/R. You could try adding a separate center, but that might get weird with placement since the soundbar is designed to be centered with the TV. You could also try and use a phantom center with the soundbar covering L/R duties.


So... Your soundbar has analog L/R RCA inputs or it has an optical input. You could get a receiver that either has pre-outs, (usually only found on a bit higher end receivers), or one with an assignable optical out, you'll have to check on this possibility yourself... I haven't used optical in years and don't really know what's out there anymore. If you go this route you would simply connect either the pre-outs for L/R or the optical output to the soundbar and then use the receivers internal amps for the rear in-wall speakers. For the kitchen you would probably want a receiver that has a separate zone and just use that to drive the kitchen speaker.


Now... with all of that said. In order to find a receiver that meets all of your requirements in order to accommodate the soundbar you could very well end up spending more than if you go with a more entry-level receiver and a budget speaker package for the L/C/R and just do away with the soundbar. Personally I would try and go that route unless you have severe budget limitations or are somehow emotionally attached to the soundbar itself.


I suggest you do some more reading in the speakers and receivers forums, and maybe HTiB and figure out what works best for you.


If you'll start posting what kind of budget you have and what you want/need, what you listen to, then people will chime in with additional suggestions.

My main reason for wanting to keep the soundbar is I have the wires hidden. If I buy new 5.1 system I'd have wires everywhere for the front speakers.


And I figure I have good equipment already on/in the walls, why not use it.

There is no way to tie in the sound bar. it is just not designed for what you are trying to do. I don't know your layout or where your wiring is but I'd return the sound bar if possible and go with the following.


A 7.1 audio receiver with zone 2 capability. You would use 5 channels for living room and 2 channels for the kitchen. You may be able to use your current Yamaha receiver, which model is it?

An LCR speaker bar for the front 3 speakers. This would give you a sound bar look and not show a lot of wires.

A subwoofer and a wireless subwoofer adapter if it is too hard to get a wire to the subwoofer.

A universal remote.

What's the budget? There are MANY speaker companies that make them and pricing is all over, from a low of about $150 to well over $2000.

Definitely on the lower end of that. Like to stay in the $200-300 range. Boss lady's orders.

Atlantic Technology FS5000. Sounds great and can play loud.
