Wanting height-adjustable furniture for UST projector

11707 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Yarrow
tl;dr I'm looking for a height-adjustable stand for my projector that sits on the floor and looks like furniture.

I have an Optoma GT5600 UST projector which I was projecting on my wall.

Now that we mounted a screen, it's a few inches higher than the projector output so I can't get all the content on-screen without raising the projector. I like where the screen is and don't want to move it down.

Instead, I want to move the projector up higher.

Currently, it's sitting on the only piece of IKEA furniture we found at the height we needed when it was on the wall. All we need now is something that can be adjusted a few inches in height, but I wouldn't mind getting a completely different piece of furniture.

I want it to look like furniture and have a few caveats:
  1. It's going in our bedroom.
  2. My 1yr old knocks over floor-standing furniture like lamps and tripods. He doesn't touch the IKEA toy-chest the projector's on right now. No clue why.

you can try something like this. They have a very large selection to choose from on amazon.
I used a larger glass shelf for my epson 5040 and thats a monster sized projector

Maybe just add something like this to your existing furniture.

When I was looking for the same thing I have tried option with low profile stand up desk but eventually decided that fixed position will be fine.

Some folks suggested some stuff with wheels. My son will move it, and it'll take time to center it again on the screen. The projector will be stationary.

There was one suggestion to use a wall-mounted stand. This looks fantastic! But my projector sits about 2' away from the wall so something that comes out 15" isn't deep enough.

From a couple folks, the closest thing to what I'd want if it was going to sit on the current storage bench: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FVY52KY?th=1.

These types of products are really expensive. In fact, they're more than the cost of the storage bench itself. If I could raise them to the height of the storage bench or more, then I could replace the entire storage bench with a unit like this.

Since it wouldn't look very good on the floor, I'd have to cover it with a table cloth or something similar to make it look like regular furniture.

From the Amazon product page, looks like this one only goes up to 16.7" which is slightly shorter than the current storage bench, and I'd need it higher. My only hope is that it would sit cleanly on top and raise up to just the right height, but it's also a lot longer :/.

This is the IKEA unit I have right now:

Another idea I had is to find a heavy stand, mount a piece of wood to it, and then mount a height-adjustable projector ceiling-mount to that. Might work, but I don't know if it'll hold. They're supposed to be mounting the projector the other way around.

Something like this might work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RWLZ8JX/ref=emc_b_5_i. My projector is only 3.9-4.4kg and this stand maxes at 5kg. It'd look weird coming out of the middle of the carpet, but from what I've seen screwing into a carpeted floor, it's not obvious the carpet was screwed into when the unit is removed.

This may be something similar you are looking for. It is a complete cabinet set with an integrated screen.
