I am looking to upgrade the processor on my Dell XPS and Dell's website is saying the only processor that would go with my laptop runs $1500 (Intel core 2 duo t7600G 2.33Ghz). I was wondering if anyone here could recommend another site that may have that processor for less? I seen some on ebay for less but I want to see the processor in person and make sure I'm getting what I am paying for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way I currently have a YONAH, T2500 2.0 processor on my laptop.

First, why are you upgrading? What are you looking for? You should note that this machine is likely more than 3 years old, and everything else on it will be the same. If it is gaming performance you are looking for, you will likely be disappointed.


The Core2 7xxx series has been out of production for a while, and you're not going to see it sold new in many places, and if you do it will be expensive. It's just not worth it for peopel to stock old CPUs as they hardly ever sell and constantly depreciate. I'd say ebay will be your best bet. There are many T7600s there for less than $300. I still think you will be happier with a new laptop instead, though.

Steven975 thanks for your response. I've been considering just building a new pc. Something for my home theater set-up. Maybe I will go ahead and sell the XPS to help pay for some parts. Thanks again.
