Hi All

Growing more tired of my Libratone Soundbar in the living room, I'm considering upgrading to a discrete budget friendly 5.1 system.

I have a Denon 2310, just standing, after an upgrade of the cinema in the basement so I'll just be needing the speakers.

I have looked at the Warfedale setup that gets great review e.g.

But no retailer in my country has them for a demo before I buy. Anyone here has this speaker setup and would care to comment on them pros and cons. Or other suggestions for speakers.

Cheers

Not available in the US so probably won't get much feedback.

Maybe post on a European Audio/Video site?

I will say that in the last several years I have tested three speakers WhatHiFi reviewed, two they said were excellent and one they said was awful and while they were right on point on the first two I decided to try the third despite their warnings.

To be honest they were kind; they weren't awful, they were much much worse than that! :p

WhatHiFi reviews have been a mixed bag for me.

They did not like the original Elac Debut's. I think that speaker is fantastic. They love the Debut 2.0's...I am just "meh" on that one.

They gushed on the Monitor Audio Silver 100's. I bought a pair due to this review. And while it was a good speaker, it just didn't have the magic that they told me it does (especially for the price point).

All the reviews are pretty consistent. They don't like to be turned way up, and the sub can be a bit overbearing (placement will be crucial). So, if you are in a relatively small space or don't listen at ear-splitting levels and have some placement options for the sub, you should be happy.

Really, unless you double the ante and get the Q Acoustics set, I don't think you will do better.
