I will say that Falling Down is one of my top 5 movies all-time and I'll have to pick that up, though why couldn't they use the poster art that has always been used? The cover is terrible on this.


I didn't like the digibooks at first but I'm okay with them now.

I objected to them at first but I've got enough TV releases and sets from HBO that don't conform that I gave up. They fit right in with each other, as I've got about nine of them now.


And while they certainly could do inserts instead (like Criterion), it's still nice to have the booklets.

I think it's interesting that so many complain about a differing package size like this when just about 90% of the shelving systems I see for DVDs and BDs allow for such size variation. Guess some people are just more anal about this than me. I like the digibook style and frankly I wouldn't mind every release of theirs be given the same treatment. It's very well done and adds some charm to otherwise bland looking movie cases.

I've got 4 WB Digibooks (Bonnie & Clyde, How the West Was Won, Natural Born Killers, and Amadeus) and intend to purchase any future titles that interest me, but my only issue with them is how they're taller and deeper (the spines stick out) in a rack full of 70 other standard cased-titles. I love the extra booklet and the matte finish of the case too much to be irked about the change (and the fact that majority of the titles are classics - welcome additions to high definition)!

If anyone is interested, I took all the knowledge I could find about the DigiBook line and put them on my website . It includes Artwork, release dates, and other stuff (like if it came with a Digital Copy, 'normal' releases etc.) I've been keeping track of all this myself and figured maybe others would want to check it out. Also added artwork for the Region B locked DigiBooks coming out in Europe.

I don't like digibooks for two reasons. The "joint" as they call it, that depressed hinge that allows the boards to bend outward, is not aesthetically pleasing. Unless you think creases in posters look nice. They are also more easily damaged, unlike the art-within-replaceable-shell design of regular cases.


Warner sure is hellbent on their cardboard ideas, though. I must commend such undying persistence.

Apparently "Silverado" is a DigiBook. I don't remember this one getting announced as such (and Amazon.com's photo shows it in a normal case). Now I need to get one!

Wal-mart has a great deal on this right now. Much cheaper than their online price.

Compared to some case decisions (i.e. snappers), there doesn't seem to be that much dissatisfaction with the Digibooks. My shelving gives enough space for all but the tallest cases, so I don't mind Digibooks at all. I think the supplemental info more than makes up for any perceived QA issues. Then again, I haven't run into any of said issues, so make of that what you will.

Yeah, in terms of "special collectible cases"... the Digibooks are the least offensive. They look good, and fit in pretty much the same shelf space.


I still have things like my Planet of the Apes set and Battlestar Galactica set sitting in a random place while I figure out what to do with them.
