Warranty Question on Panny Commercial Models

322 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  BruZZi
After much research and analyzing my criteria, I have decided to purchase the Panasonic TH-42PWD7UY plasma.

However, there is one bit of information I could not find on research. Does the 1 year factory warranty require the owner to make arrangements to have the set sent to an authorized service center or does the warranty cover on site repairs? How does the warranty compare to the consumer model?

That's about the only bit of information I need before I place the order. I have had a hard time deciding between the 50 inch 7UY, the 42 HD 7UY, and the 42 ED 7UY. I really wanted to get the 50 inch, but I'm not sure if my maximum viewing distance of 7 ft would be optimal for the size.

I also decided against the 42 HD 7UY because it costs more and technically it's not really HD since HD is minimum 1280 x 720. And since most of my use of the plasma will come from watching DVD's (480p max) and playing PS2/Xbox and very little SD/HD watching, I decided on the 42 ED 7UY. In fact, I'm not even planning to get cable or a dish. Just planning to get an external tuner and an antennae for light SD/HD viewing.

Thanks in advance,

Tae

Industrial Models have Carry-In Warranty.

Thanks for the reply Bruzzi! Is that 3330 Cahu"Ne"ga? If it is, I used to live about 3 or 4 miles from there. Now I live in Pasadena. But still, it's only about 12-15 miles away. Wouldn't be too difficult driving the unit there myself if I ever run into any problems.

Thanks for the reply again!
