Can a Quadscane Elite Rackmount squeeze 4:3 material into a 16:9 aspect ratio?


I want to watch TV on my 16:9 screen.


I have a picture attached for the affect I want.


What can do this for me?

I have an NEC XG-110, but I don't want to have to do that. I haven't received the Quadscan yet, but I think it does it.


I know the Faroudja does.


You just set the "display device aspect ratio" on the scaler to "16:9" and it does all the necessary scaling.


Just wondering if the Quadscan did.

"If your display is native 16:9, and you are projecting on a 16:9 screen, the Quadscan should be set for 16:9 output. A widescreen movie should fill the screen assuming that the movie is also 16:9 or 1.78:1. If the movie is wider, for example 2.35:1, you will see some black area on top and bottom of the screen due to the image being wider and shorter than 16:9. If you are viewing a 4:3 image, you will see black bars on the right and left sides of the image, because a 4:3 image is not wide enough to fill the screen."
