Watching Dvico recorded content on hdtv in bedroom?

932 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Derek K.
I have a bit of a long question that hopefully somebody can answer. I am trying to figure out the best way to stream or connect my pc in one room to the hdtv in my bedroom so that I can watch my pc's recorded HDTV content. I have windows MCE and a Dvico Fusion Gold 5 hdtv card. I have a radeon x1950 pro with dual dvi outs. I connected and can use one of my ir connecting blocks to control the fusion card remotely from my bedroom. Basically I have no problem controlling the pc from my bedroom. I wired that all up but I am not sure how I can get the audio and video to the tv in my bedroom. Obviously I can use an hdmi to dvi cable, but what about audio? Should I run a super long rca along with a hdmi? Obviously the dvi port on my pc (or any dvi) does not have an audio stream so I am in need of some advice to make this all work. Thanks in advance.

thats an easy one..... are you using MCE to actually do the recordings? or are you just using the Fusion software?

IF you are using MCE to do the recordings, then just get yourself an xbox 360 and use it as a media center extender. If you are not a gamer you can actually get the low low end xbox 360 arcade which is about $225 or so and can use that as a media center extender.

The only thing you'd need is a ethernet cable in the bedroom that connects to the same network your MCE box is on.

If you are using the HDTV's built in speakers, I would just take the analog out of the PC

(1/8" to L/R RCA) and run it to the analog sound inputs of the HDTV. The necessary cables are less that $5.00 + shipping.

$1.60 3.5mm Stereo Plug/2 RCA Plug cable - 6 inch
