I've been wondering -- is it possible to plug my laptop (an HP Pavilion dv5120 with Windows XP, no Media Center) into my HDTV and watch streaming TV shows from the Internet on the HDTV, such as you can find on network TV web sites? Or if I were to download TV shows from someplace like Amazon's Unbox and save them to the laptop, would that work as well?

I know I can connect via an S-video cable from the laptop to the TV, and also use an RCA cable from the headphone out, into the audio input (red, white) on the TV. But is it that simple? (It sounds too easy, that's all.)

Thanks in advance.

It's very simple indeed - I do this all the time - just watched the Euo 2008 soccer semi-final that way.. You won't get a HD picture over s-video but I assume you know this already.

If your TV happens to have a VGA input, you can use that to get HD resolutions from the laptop, otherwise you'd need a VGA to component transcoder or just use s-video and get 480i.
