I was just wondering whether anyone has tried watercooling for a HTPC and wanted to know if the EMI that the pump emits (amounts differ depending on the pump) would have any negative effects on the video or sound card. Thanks for the info!
The advantage with a water cooled computer is there really only needs to be 2 fans, 1 for the radiator and 1 for the PSU. As long as you get a quiet pump it should be much quieter then a normal computer.
You need more than that, expecially if you're running 7200 RPM drive(s), a high-end video card and god knows how many other tuner/scaler/input cards in the system.
Not to mention the fact that you'd have to run the pipes and the pump somewhere. With the already massive amount of cabling I have for my HT hookup, I don't need MORE getting in the way.
I'm using a Zalman copper fan cooler myself. Much less expensive, too.
They have water cooling for hard drives and video cards. All the major sources of heat should be taken care by that. All other heat could be piped away by the PSU fan (you just need to remove the PSU cover)
